"Musalaheen stands in stark contrast to other narratives about Iraq in both content and quality." - Says Me
I grew up in Iowa. I joined the USMC when I was seventeen--luckily the reserves (sorry to be a fleet dodger). I ended up a Machine Gunner, and not only did I go overseas to go through the Israeli Defense Force Counter Terrorism School, I also did a tour in Iraq where I served about fifteen klicks west of Fallujah, just north of the Euphrates. When I got, back I went to Iowa State University. Then I went to VCFA for my Masters in creative nonfiction writing.
I provide links to my works that are online, just click around.
There are buttons in the bottom right corner that link to FB and Twitter. I run my facebook like an art zine and twitter is a post by post author bio.
Things I should brag about:
Fox Sports publishing video poetry of my work, with me reading
I'm in the Best American Essays anthology, 2017
I'm a notable in the BAE 2016
I've had worked nominated for Push Cart Prizes and Best of the Net
I've been published in the New York Times
I did all of this without an agent, wealth, or popularity
